CROWNE PLAZA KUALA LUMPUR CITY CENTRE’S SELERA KAMPUNGKU BUFFET DINNER IS IMPRESSIVE
We gasped in delight when we saw the spread of delicious goodies at Crowne Plaza Kuala Lumpur City Centre. They had kindly invited us for a preview to try out what they are going to serve at the highly anticipated return of their Selera Kampungku Buffet Dinner, celebrating Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage for the second year in a row.

Hosted nightly at Merchants, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant on Level 13, this year’s buffet promises an even more extensive selection of authentic “kampung”-style dishes, thoughtfully curated by their talented team of chefs, led by Executive Chef Adrian Jackson. Just one look and all of us were impressed by how everything had been prepared. The guests invited to try this delicious buffet included celebrities, influencers, the media and important contacts plus friends of the hotel.

The friendly hotel staff ushered us in and happily greeted us with lovely smiles. They were also at hand whenever we wanted to ask about something or needed help with anything. We were informed that the buffet dinner has been designed to bring family and friends together and we all concurred that this dining experience is a true celebration of flavour, tradition, and togetherness. It’s clearly perfect for Buka Puasa get-togethers when everyone can enjoy spending time with each other.

Diners will go on a culinary journey where Chefs’ origins take the spotlight. They can embark on a gastronomic adventure featuring regional specialities from across the Malaysian Peninsula, each expertly prepared by the hotel’s team of chefs. Chef Saiful elevates Rendang with premium Wagyu beef, while Chef Irazrie’s Kambing Golek boasts succulent, spit-roasted lamb. Chef Seing’s signature Chicken Rice from Melaka pairs fragrant rice with perfectly roasted and steamed chicken, and Chef Amier’s Johor Murtabak delights with its crispy skin and spiced filling. For comforting flavours, Chef Izdhar prepares Penang’s Sup Tulang Kambing, while Chef Venga showcases an array of Indian delicacies, including Nasi Briyani Ayam Bombay.


For lighter yet flavourful options, Chef Atirah’s Kelantanese ABC (Air Batu Campur) and Chef Nani’s Kuala Selangor Rojak offer refreshing indulgences. Meanwhile, Chef Dinie presents a selection of Bakar-Bakar specialities from Perak, delivering the perfect balance of smokiness and tenderness. To complete the meal on a sweet note, Pastry Chef Mohd Norsalam’s signature Apam Balik from Kedah, a crispy yet fluffy peanut-filled pancake, offers a nostalgic and heartwarming finale. There also are many other mouthwatering desserts that diners will find hard to resist at the buffet.



I must say that everything tasted delicious and I really wished I had two or even three stomachs so I could eat more. I tried to taste a bit of everything but there were still a few dishes that I couldn’t try because I had become too full. Everything was so tempting and flavourful that we wished we could continue eating and eating! I guess the best thing for people to do is to go for the buffet more than one time. After all, each time you go, you could eat something you didn’t manage to try the first time and you can also enjoy all the dishes you absolutely loved the first time, once again.

All of us who were invited to the preview of the dinner buffet were impressed with the extensive array of offerings and the way everything was presented beautifully. We feel that the Selera KampungKu buffet dinner is sure to be a big hit during Ramadhan this year.
