A Lovely Staycation At FOX Glenmarie Shah Alam

Staycations are popular now and after recently going for one at FOX Glenmarie Shah Alam, I’ve started to understand the reasons why. Staycations are basically a holiday spent in one’s home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions. A staycation offers a unique blend of relaxation and exploration.

Due to cost-effectiveness, staycations can be significantly cheaper than traditional vacations, as you eliminate expenses like buying air tickets and travelling long distances. You also won’t have to worry about changing your currency. It’s convenient as there’s no need to pack many items or worry about jet lag. If you do forget something, you could just buy it or even head home for a short while to collect it. Staycations are also said to reduce your carbon footprint.

I’ve always told myself that one day I would find the time to check out the local attractions at Shah Alam but as usual, I kept putting it off. As such, staying at the FOX Hotel Glenmarie Shah Alam gave me the perfect opportunity to do what I always meant to do.

FOX Glenmarie comes under the umbrella of Ascott Malaysia and is conveniently nestled next to the upcoming LRT station, Kerjaya Station LRT 3 (STN 9). When we reached the hotel we could see that the LRT station will soon be completed.

It took us just about 30-40 minutes to reach FOX Glenmarie from Kuala Lumpur. Looking at the signages along the way, we could see that it offers unparalleled accessibility, just 15 minutes from Sultan Aziz Airport and 40 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Strategically located in the heart of Shah Alam, FOX Glenmarie is a premier choice for both discerning travelers and locals alike.

After parking our car, we went to the reception area and were very pleased with the service received. In fact, for our whole staycation, one of the things that stood out was the friendly and welcoming service we received whenever we had to deal with the efficient staff there.

FOX Glenmarie boasts 117 meticulously designed guest rooms, offering a selection of three distinct room types – Deluxe Room King, Deluxe Room Twin, and Suite Room. Each room is crafted to cater to diverse guest preferences, ensuring utmost comfort and satisfaction.

When we entered our room, we immediately loved it as it was spacious and the whole ambience was lovely. How the bathroom looks like is also a priority for us when staying anywhere and we were happy with the way it looked and the amenities inside. Clearly, it was going to be a great staycation as sophistication and excellence in hospitality is something FOX Glenmarie provides.

We were delighted as there was a welcome gift especially for us, consisting of local snacks, some of which transported me back to the time when I was a little kid growing up. As we were a little hungry, it was a yummy way to fill our tummies a bit before we could head out for more food.

When we explored the hotel, we could see that they pamper their guests with a plethora of amenities designed to rejuvenate the body and soul. One could immerse in tranquility at their inviting swimming pool, indulge in a rejuvenating spa experience at Slim Studio, or invigorate senses at the fully equipped gymnasium and yoga studio. The greenery filled outdoor pavilion provides the perfect setting for intimate gatherings or serene contemplation.

We told ourselves that we must try out the swimming pool and gym before our staycation was over. The first evening was basically spent relaxing and exploring the surrounding area around the hotel. Within walking distance, we saw quite a few places where we could eat. There were coffee places, Mamak shops, a Family Mart, a Speedmart, etc. Later, after dinner, we headed to our room to enjoy it for the night, happily watching the movies on television. What we also did was to plan for what we would do the next day to explore Shah Alam further. Google showed us that there were quite few exciting malls we could visit and activities we could indulge in.

The next day saw us waking up comfortably and enjoying a leisurely breakfast that was delicious. Then we just went to walk around the hotel a bit and we saw the herbs/vegetables gardens. We were fascinated to hear that some of the produce they grow here are used in the kitchens and guests could enjoy the fresh herbs/vegetables when eating at the hotel.

Exploring the place, we also found out that for those hosting a corporate event or a private celebration, FOX Glenmarie offers state-of-the-art meeting facilities capable of accommodating up to 300 guests and their versatile event spaces are tailored to meet every need, resulting in a memorable time and unforgettable moments.

We decided to head out for lunch and we chose to visit i-City. We were told that the lights there at night are marvellous and we told ourselves we would spend our time at the mall first and then head to the i-City Theme Park before heading back to the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the mall was huge indeed and could rival the ones in Kuala Lumpur. There were many interesting food outlets and we could shop to our heart’s delight too.

As the evening approached, we asked the information counter if we could just walk to the theme park and were happy to hear that the answer was “Yes”. The lady at the counter gave us directions and we headed there. It was a short walk and not too tiring. We were slightly early and as such the lights had not been turned on yet. However, it was still fun to walk around the place and do a bit of sightseeing. When we saw a shop offering durian cendol, we couldn’t resist wanting to try it and had to go in. We had never tried durian cendol before and ordered it. Be prepared to pay about RM25 for a bowl, though. We read that it was good quality D24 durians that were served in the cendol.

Before long, the lights came on and the place was transformed into a magical wonderland. We had fun walking around and enjoying the beautiful lights. Many other visitors could be seen enjoying the whole experience too. Some came with children and some with their partners or friends. We would recommend visiting this place if ever in Shah Alam or staying at the FOX Glenmarie Hotel.

Then it was time to head back to the hotel and it was a convenient drive not too far away. We quickly went to our rooms and changed into our swimwear as we wanted to enjoy the pool. It wasn’t crowded as it was almost 9 pm and we had a good time, getting some exercise while enjoying the pretty night sky above and also the view from where the pool is situated. After the invigorating yet relaxing swim, we slowly headed to our room to rest and for a good night’s sleep.

The next day saw us leisurely waking up and heading for the delicious breakfast again. Then, after walking around the outdoor pavilion near the breakfast venue and the pool while enjoying the sunshine and the greenery, it was time to go to our room to pack up and check out.

It was a lovely staycation and we promised ourselves to do more of these in the future. After all, there were still some other tourism attractions in Shah Alam that we hadn’t had the time to visit. On top of that, a stay at Fox Glenmarie Hotel is something to remember and cherish. We must say that we really enjoyed the ambience, atmosphere and the fact that all the staff there were polite, kind, friendly and professional.
