It’s a great achievement, indeed! The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) has made history by being officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for organising the \u201cLargest Walkathon Against Violence Towards Women\u201d, with 1460 participants joining the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The achievement was celebrated during the Orange The World Walkathon 2025, part of the United Nations 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The walkathon brought together families, students, youth, NGOs, corporate supporters, and members of Inner Wheel Clubs from Districts 330 & 331, all united to raise awareness and take a stand against gender-based violence. The MBR certificate was presented to IWCKL and witnessed by YB Dato\u2019 Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juanita Lee, Organising Chairperson, added, \u201cThis walkathon is a testimony of unity. Malaysians from all walks of life came together to say \u2018enough.\u2019 We hope this achievement inspires continued national efforts to end violence in all forms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YB Dato\u2019 Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri congratulated IWCKL : \u201cViolence against women must end. The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur has shown leadership and commitment through this walkathon, uniting Malaysians to reject violence and promote equality. I congratulate IWCKL for this historic achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been reported that violence against women remains a pervasive global emergency. In 2025, data reveals that nearly 1 in 3 women<\/strong> \u2014 roughly 840 million<\/strong>\u2014have survived physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. The crisis is lethal; an average of 140 women and girls<\/strong> are killed every day by partners or family members. Beyond physical harm, digital violence is also said to be surging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orange The World is a global United Nations campaign calling on communities to take action to end violence against women and girls through awareness, advocacy, education, and prevention. The colour orange symbolises hope for a future free from violence. The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur, one of Malaysia\u2019s longest-established women-led service organisations, empowers women, supports communities, and raises national awareness on gender-based violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
