Phuket is more of a beach town and most people walk around with swimsuits and a hat all day long. The roadsides are lined with massage parlours and manicure pedicure shops and it seems to be the home of many foreigners. You will see more foreigners as compared to the local Thais. Most things are also more expensive over there as compared to Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We did not shop much as there was nothing that we could not get back in Malaysia. However, whenever I go to a new country, one of my must-do\u2019s is to try new foods. The foods that I tried were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Was so excited when I came across this fruit as it is difficult to find in Malaysia. However, since we are tourist, the price was raked up and one whole fruit costs RM 10. It tastes the same as the white dragonfruit and its flesh is also white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Luk choop<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1020\" src=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-14.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7933\" style=\"width:587px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-14.png 768w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-14-226x300.png 226w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-14-600x797.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Luk choop in multiple fruit shapes<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t be fooled by this glass looking mini fruit shaped desert. The filling of this desert is mung bean with condensed milk and the external is coated with gelatin or agar. Feel a bit sad to eat it cause the desert is shaped exactly like fruits. There are mini apples, carrots, cherries, durians and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Verdict: &nbsp;<\/strong>I love the taste of these desert. It\u2019s not too sweet and the mung bean filling is a lot. One fruit is never enough because you can pop it into your mouth in one go. Such a beautiful desert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Soy Yogurt<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-16.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7936\" style=\"width:581px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-16.png 750w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-16-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-16-600x800.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Tried this particular brand of soy yogurt (only found in Thailand). There is also the strawberry soy yogurt of the same brand.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Though soy yogurt is not unique to Thai, it was my first time trying it as I have only heard of it but never seen it in my home country, Malaysia. I believe this type yogurt is mostly found in international grocery stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Verdict:<\/strong> &nbsp;The yogurt tasted a lot like Chinese desert, taufu fa sans the ginger taste and brown sugar syrup. Overall, it was worth a one-time try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Jujube<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"970\" height=\"723\" src=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-18.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7941\" style=\"width:672px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-18.png 970w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-18-300x224.png 300w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-18-768x572.png 768w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-18-600x447.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 970px) 100vw, 970px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>The taste and texture of fresh jujube is equivalent to a guava and apple crossover<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The Malay community call this fruit \u201cbuah bidara\u201d and it\u2019s easy to find all around Malaysia. The trees grow everywhere and sometimes beside the roads. However, their fruits fall everywhere on the ground and I have never picked it up to try it thinking it\u2019s poisonous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Verdict:<\/strong> The fruit is a bit hard to bite. Please only eat it if you have strong teeth. The taste is rather tart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. This fruit is then dried and made into a juice and served as a welcome drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Verdict: <\/strong>The juice is tasteless and it\u2019s a remedy for those who have digestive issues like constipation and gastric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contraindications: <\/strong>Please do not take your diabetic medications\/ insulin together with bael fruit as your blood sugar may drop really low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Bailey\u2019s coffee<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7927\" style=\"width:589px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-10.png 750w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-10-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-10-600x800.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>My half glass of Bailey&#8217;s coffee that I sipped gradually<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>I have heard so much about Bailey&#8217;s coffee but it\u2019s my first time trying it. It\u2019s a blend of coffee and whiskey. The alcohol concentration in Bailey\u2019s is 17%, a bit on the higher side. There are also non \u2013alcoholic versions of this drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Verdict: <\/strong>If you do not drink as often as me, you will find Bailey\u2019s coffee to be too strong. Sip and drink gradually as the alcohol overpowers the coffee.
