I knew allulose was some sugar, but it is really not that popular. It is also expensive \u2013 RM 20 for a 350g bag. Below are the questions running around in my mind and the answers that I got.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. What exactly is allulose?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-23-1024x585.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-23-1024x585.png 1024w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-23-300x171.png 300w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-23-768x439.png 768w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-23-600x343.png 600w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-23.png 1344w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>Allulose is found in fruits and is a type of fruit sugar. But it&#8217;s percentage in fruits is way lower as compared to fructose. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A naturally occurring sugar found in minute amounts in foods like figs, raisins, wheat, and many other fruits. For example, 100g of dried fig will only give 0.5-1g of allulose. One will need hundreds of kilograms of figs to get 1kg of allulose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since allulose is difficult to extract, for commercial purposes, allulose is made by converting fructose from corn\/sugar beets with the help of enzymes. This process rearranges the sugar molecule but does not create a new artificial substance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemically, allulose has the same structure as fructose but the body doesn\u2019t metabolize it the same way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. &nbsp;Calories &amp; blood sugar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"680\" src=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-24-1024x680.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-24-1024x680.png 1024w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-24-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-24-768x510.png 768w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-24-600x398.png 600w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-24.png 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>Allulose does not cause a spike in blood sugar as it is 0 kcal hence its suitable for those with sugar issues<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Allulose is a rare type of sugar and is classified as natural sugar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Calories are negligible: about 0.2\u20130.4kcal\/g (table sugar has 4kcal\/g)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doesn\u2019t spike blood sugar or insulin as it is not metabolized by the body for energy. This makes it suitable for diabetics to consume.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allulose is then removed completely via urine within 24 hours. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Taste &amp; cooking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"474\" src=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10467\" style=\"width:338px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-10.png 474w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-10-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-10-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/wise-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-10-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>A comparison between allulose and sugar &#8211; the good, bad and in between.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Not too sweet- tastes about 70% as sweet as sugar and need to use 1.3x more to get the same taste as table sugar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No bitter or artificial aftertaste like artificial sweeteners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heat resistant as it caramelises and browns like sugar. This makes it suitable for baking and cooking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For products like bread that use yeast for fermentation, it is not advisable to use allulose as it does not supply enough sugar for the fermentation process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Which population should use allulose?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>a. Hence it fits perfectly into their diets as well as the diets of those who are low on carb and low sugar. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Used in keto desserts, drinks, and baked goods. It actually gives moist baking products as allulose can hold moisture well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preferred because it behaves and does not have an effect on the ketosis states of the body<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>c.
